How to Exercise Your Human

Apparently I need to get a Purrsonal trainer to get in shape. Thank goodness for cats and dogs everywhere helping us humans get healthy enough to take care of them.

Love Letters

I hate wasting my days and I often feel that I do because I have joint pain from arthritis that developed after I went through treatments for cancer.  I also have anemia and I am overweight.   I also have emotional pain of being completely god-smacked by medical appointments and bills, managing family time, working too hard for my body & mind to heal, and being afraid to ask for help when I am drowning in things I need to get done but cannot find the energy to get out of bed.

Recently I started work on a novel something that as a child, adolescent, and adult I have longed to start, slog through, and finish.  This fills me with great joy but this like many other things will get overshadowed by depression or just pain that keeps me in bed.  But I want to do this thing that fills me with joy and I am determined to find a way through just like I found a way through cancer.

Of course because it is December like many others I find myself thinking on what I want to do next year to make it amazing or just better than the year prior.  Last year and throughout this year I have started writing letters to friends and family.  Good old fashion pen and paper, envelope licking, stamp buying letters.  It felt good, really good and it gave me something to do when I wasn’t feeling good and when I was feeling good.  So I next year I am going to make the letter writing and novel writing something I work 2 days a week on.

Sunday and Mondays I will head down to the Library and write my letters and work on my novel.  I will bring stationary, stamps, and envelopes for anyone who wants to join me.

Bingle bongle Sunday

This new schedule of waking up and doing stuff has really kicked in because I was up at 6am this morning.  I puttered around I walked and then I felt ill so I curled up into my bed and slept till 1pm crazy eh?

Anyway I spoke with my sister yesterday and my mother today and it was good fun.  It is really nice to hear from them on my strange departures from reality called weekends because it keeps me guessing about what will happen next as weekends should do.  Weekends are the end to everything normal and get to change everything from hour to hour for me and that is fun but exhausting and it is why on Mondays some people like myself are happy because then we can relax into normality.

Oh am very happy to report I have pickled some beets and carrots this weekend and I will be using them to make a salad for myself on my lunches this coming week.  I did not pick up a omelet pan like I was thinking I might but instead I purchased a bento box for myself so I can pop it into my bag for lunches.  I think I need to post to pics about that so those will be coming in short order.  Oh oh I have to share I cut up my real honest attempt at a Julian cut on carrots and it turned out okay.  My knife skills need some more work but I am happy with the results.  For my salad I am just doing carrots, beets, sesame oil and seeds, then some shiitaki mushrooms and maybe some egg.  I am really enjoying making sushi and bento meals for myself because I will actually eat my lunches.  So hoorah for making lunches and new years resolutions.

Thanks for reading my blog and good luck.

Okay my internet friends I am challenging everyone to keep to their new years resolutions because I can damn it!  I have made and taken my lunch to work each day this year and while it is only day 3 I honestly believe it is important to stay focused and excited.  Important because it allows you to accomplish more than you think you can.  So I am going out walking tonight as a challenge to my mother and it is crazy cold outside but it is not currently raining so I am going to head out now.

So if you have a resolution that you have made then do something about it tonight or tomorrow.  Just remember science says that to create a new habit or break one you have to commit at minimum 2 weeks of work to set it in your mind.

Hooray (Spiral up the merry-go-round)

Hooray for Lunches and keeping to my new years resolution.

Hooray for new departments and being able to help people.

Hooray for sleep and coffee and the sweet magic they contain.

Hooray for friends and working through life’s bumps together.

Spiral up and down the merry-go-round

I am extremely happy to report that I have gotten my Trimet Honors Citizen pass taken care of finally.  This should have been taken care of months ago but I am 1. a procrastinator and 2. a very busy person so now that it is done I feel better.  So this is my Spiral up and down the Merry-go-round segment that I am starting to share the fun and not so fun things with being a sexy geek.

Downward spiral:

The last few weeks have been really hard for me physically and emotionally.  My life has been filled with wonderful and good things from my family to work stuff letting me want to jump for joy at all the wonderful things yet all I can seem todo is sleep and feel pain.  This bothers me because I want to feel happy and excited but things from work and my day to day pain levels have higher than normal.  For the last few days I have been sleeping much and it hasn’t felt like it has made much of a difference.

Upward spiral (to end on a good note):

Great success has been had and planning has been made for the betterment of my life.  I was hired into a new dept with my work with more perks than I was expecting including work hours that let me have a social life again.  The team that I am leaving really loves me and I love them back for all of the support and respect we have shared.  I have been able to ride my bike to work and back a few times and I have kept to my training schedule for the 5K.
